Trevor Parker
Solo Exhibition 28th August - 9th September Opening: Friday 1st September, 5.30pm - 8pm Apeiron Trevor Parker’s installation responds to the writings of Anaximander, a 6TH Century BC philosopher and specifically to the many interpretations of his concept of the origin of the universe and the term Apeiron. Although it may be considered a flawed scientific model, the concept, along with many other flawed contemporary scientific models fulfil the psychological necessity for the human psyche to interpret sensory processes against established concepts. The two-dimensional work presents repetitive drawing techniques that are better suited to digital processes. The resulting drawings utilise our ability to process methodology and our ability to adopt new techniques in the attempt to remove specific errors. This process has been adopted in electronic units as an error feedback system, however, the drawings question whether or not the inevitable fallibility associated with repetitive processes a fundamental part of what it is to be human? All things originate from one another, and vanish into one another according to necessity; They give to each other justice and recompense for injustice In conformity with the order of Time. [1] Biography Trevor Parker studied art in Scotland but is presently working in NZ until 2018. His work is mostly sculptural or AV in output but he has presented recent prints and drawings alongside a construction for this exhibition.
