Previous Exhibitions 2026

Nico Harrison
Pip window gallery

Wednesday 1st – Saturday 25th July
Opening event – Friday 3rd July. 5-7pm

My work is greatly inspired by colours that I see around me. I explore the ways different combinations work together to create space and feelings.
I paint faces and expressions to engage the viewer and bring the painting alive. I feel that a painting without a face is unfinished, empty and emotionless.
I am also working with surfaces to create texture, I like them to be worn and broken in because it feels more familiar or natural. I have been experimenting with different mediums and surfaces like paper, hessian and canvas to get different outcomes and finishes.

'WU - Everything is Empty' - by Fang Yuan
Part of the Auckland Festival of Photography 2026
2 - 27 June 2026
Opening event Friday 5th June 5-7pm

In the Pod Gallery we present Fang Yuan’s series “Wu – Everything is Empty.” “Wu” describes a state before things are clearly defined, a space where forms are still emerging. Horizons dissolve and subtle colour fields shift leaving almost no fixed subject and inviting viewers to slow down and sense light, distance, and atmosphere. The work connects with the theme Movement [Kori], reflecting ideas of migration, belonging, and transition.

Sixty Three Times Around the Sun
Vjekoslav Nemesh
5th May - 30th May 2026
Opening event Friday 8th May 5-8pm
Live Painting Demos 14 & 16th May 12-2pm

This exhibition marks a deeply personal milestone — my 63rd journey around the sun, and over four decades dedicated to the path of art. At the heart of the show is the title piece, Sixty-Three Times Around the Sun, which I will paint on the day of my 63rd birthday, continuing a small but meaningful tradition I’ve recently embraced.

The inspiration for this work came from a reflection on aging by Jonny Bear, whose words stirred something deep within me. As I painted, I found myself thinking not only of my own journey, but of my generation — and of those who, for many different reasons, never had the chance to grow old.

As part of the exhibition Nemesh is also leading two workshops on the 23rd and 24th of May.

Second Place
By Cobi tfi Bosch
11th March - 5th April 2026
PIP Gallery (Window)

Second Place is a reflection of the emotional space - the unspoken tension between striving and stillness, between perceived failure and the quiet resilience. The work sits within Cobi's ongoing SINce. series, a body of work that interrogates the inherited burdens we wear, the internalised beliefs we preform, and the rituals we create to both confront and conceal them.

Chaos of Home
By Kyra Alkamil
7th April - 3rd May 2026
Pod Gallery

Opening event Friday 10th April 5-8pm
Live Music Performance by the Curls

Chaos of Home is a narrative painting exhibition that explores memories and domestic scenes centered on family and friends. Dreams, recollections, and fleeting moments from everyday life have inspired this collection of works.

Over the past year, Kyra Alkamil has developed these oil paintings at home, alongside her first year of study at Elam School of Fine Arts.
This exhibition introduces Kyra’s artistic practice and visual language while presenting the paintings as a cohesive body of work. Through intimate domestic imagery, the works explore themes of family relationships, friendship, and personal emotion. Symbolic representations of animals appear throughout the compositions, acting as metaphors that deepen the emotional narratives within the scenes and introduce moments of contrast.

Kaitiaki o te whenua
Susan Wellm
11th March - 5th April 2026
Opening night Friday 13th of March 5-7pm
Main Gallery

"All the content of my art is based on New Zealand landscapes and its inhabitants. I am inspired to prompt and paint the unique and living landscapes of Aotearoa, to show the variation of beauty and natural diversity surrounding us. To look, is to see and the reward is often personal. Some kaitiaki (guardian) are deliberately painted, while others appear when the piece is finished. This is life in nature, as I perceive it. Our place as kaitiaki, shares a bond with nature and its guardians, this is a partnership with a common purpose…. A future for all." SW
