Amber Emm’s Painting Classes

Acrylics/Oil/ Watercolour
2023 - start date Wednesday 25th January 

Come and enjoy a friendly relaxed atmosphere where you can learn to paint.
With 8-12 students per class, this course is for beginners and beyond.
Wednesday: 9.30 -11.30am / 12 – 3pm / 3.15 – 6.15pm
Thursday: 5 -7pm
2hr classes $260 for 10 consecutive weeks
3hr classes $300 for 10 consecutive weeks

Over the 10 weeks, if you miss a class, you can do a makeup in any of the other classes available within the same 10-week period.
*Causal classes are not available for Amber Emm's painting courses.

Pottery Classes - Handmade Ceramics

Have fun creating your own functional and decorative ceramic art work. Try a variety of hand building techniques with clay, as well as basic glazing.

Kumeu Knitting Class

Sundays 23 July - 6th August 2023 four-week blocks. 
Time: beginners 1pm - 2.30 - knit along 2.30- 4pm
Course costs:
Beginners $60 each 
Knit along $20 per person. 
BYO materials
Come be hands on by learning knitting stitches and techniques over four weeks or more if needed. Complete beginners learn a new stitch technique every week by knitting and by completion of course to be able to follow a hat pattern by week 3 and week 4. 
Knit along classes are for people looking for like-minded people to knit alongside with or gone from beginner to next stage of knitting to learn techniques they may not know or want to learn. This can include reading and following a pattern to learning to cast on and off.

PAINTING THE CONTEMPORARY FIGURE  ​

An exploratory and playful investigation into what it means to be painting the figure today.
 
6-week course 
November 1st - 6th December 2022
Tuesdays 10am - 12.30pm 
$190 - All materials are included
 
A Hands on and innovative approach. We will delve into the basics of depicting the figure and explore composition to create dynamic work.
  • Discover how to create narrative in your work
  • Use contemporary colour. 
  • Towards abstraction and dislocated imagery.
  • Identity representation.
 
Using acrylic paint and learning through play, you will make comprehensive studies in each class.
Looking at contemporary artists we will discuss themes, ideas and develop practical tools to put it into practice.
The beginner will come away with ideas, and tools to develop figurative work, more experienced practitioners will stretch and grow their existing practice.
