Monique Ziegler & Julie Davies
Surface Tension Pod Gallery 3 - 27 April 2024 Opening event: Sat 6th April. 2-4 pm Surface Tension is an exhibition by two local artists: Monique Ziegler and Julie Davies and explores their responses to social and environmental issues relevant to all New Zealanders today. Examining the duplicity and beauty of both natural and man made objects, from their superficial appearance to the deeper implications and undercurrents of their use, misuse and worth. Monique highlights the plight of the native Aotearoa NZ Mangrove, whilst Julie questions the impacts and consequences of fast fashion on the environment. Both ask the viewer to look more deeply into society’s casual approach to the environment, and at the same time they celebrate the often overlooked beauty in their chosen subjects. moniqueziegler.nz juliedavies.co.nz |
